Feb & March event calendars are now updated. Click Here

We're definately ready for spring! Between better weather and lighter fabrics, it shows at every turn. We're decked out with florals, light stripes and plaids, even a few purples. We haven't forgotten our Civil War and Thimbleberries friends, however, with the new Thimbleberries projects underway and a soft gray line for the War. We must be Southeners at heart. But if soft isn't your choice, how about vibrant? Jinny Beyer's Moon Glow, as a Block of the Month, begins in March. Still time for you to sign up and enjoy these teals, greens and purples. See a sample at the shop or on line at www.canbyquilts.com. I'm happy to mail your kit to you if you can't come into the shop. Our Block of the Month programs don't require a class, just pick up and sew at home.

February is a busy month here, beginning on the 1st day of the Winter Winds Shop Hop. Join our shop, and 14 others, as you gather pattern pieces, snippets of fabric and chances to win the prizes February 1 - 11.
Pick up your passport at the first shop, which could be ours!

During the shop hop, we double our fun on Saturday, the 4th, with the Super Bowl event. However, this year I’ve changed it just a little. All the shops seemed to be open for Super Bowl Sunday, but you couldn’t get to them all, and you might want to watch the game and prepare your own party at home. We’re having a pre-game event on Saturday, with a sale of 10% off at the register on merchandise, teachers showing classes and some demos going on downstairs. Karl will be here with a Featherweight or two if you’ve been looking for one of those gems. We plan on having fun, so come on down. If you’re on shop hop mode, allow a little extra time for our shop that day.

Kathie will be teaching a number of techniques that you need for finishing with fine touches. Things like bindings, mitered corners, sashings with and without cornerstones, answering questions that you bring in. The class is Thursday, the 9th, and she’ll have a preview on the 4th. 10-1
$25

Peggy Gelbrich will be here Saturday the 11th with her Batik Pyramids. 10-4, $35. Your choice of fabrics will be fun to see, as every one is so totally different. We have a sample in the shop, and it’s also shown on line. Class if fairly full, so call soon if you want to come play.

Brazilian Embroidery is the latest thing in adventure here, with Polly teaching in a couple different ways. Friday, the 17th, 12-3, $30 includes the kit, she’ll have a Make and Take class, with a project that you will finish that day. This small piece will allow you to try it and see if you like it. If you do, take the advanced 3 part class that begins April 28th, and continues on May 5th and 12th. We have a pretty full line of threads, maybe the best in the Portland area, so stop in and see the samples and supplies.

Kathie continues the Paper Piecing instruction with her Advanced class on Saturday, Feb 25th, 10-4, $35. She can teach you on her sample, or help you with a project you’re working on, she’s extremely flexible in her classes. Brush up on your skills before you start the Moon Glow Block of the Month :)

In case you’ve forgotten, Valentine’s Day is coming up. We have some fabric for you and your sweetie!

Mennonite Quilt Show & lunch is February 23, 24 & 25th. Some go for lunch and see the quilts, others go for the quilts, but include lunch. Either way, Don't miss it. Stop and see the shop while you're in the area.

Thanks for shopping with us,
Sandy
